The place we call “Edmonds” today wasn’t always a city. Since time immemorial, the Coast Salish stewarded this marsh-dominated landscape where the forested land met the tides of the Puget Sound. The Edmonds Historical Museum’s new permanent exhibit features how Edmonds’ natural history has shaped the community, and in turn how the community has shaped the land.
It largely discusses the Edmonds Marsh. Have you ever been? Marshes are critical habitat for many critters, especially birds, bugs, and beavers. Come to the museum to see the beavers who currently live in the Edmonds Marsh working on their dam, learn more about the Unocal clean-up site, pet real beaver fur, and meet Chip, the museum’s mascot.
This exhibition will ground you in a sense of place before walking around the rest of the museum’s other exhibits.
