Arnie grew up in Richmond Beach when Edmonds was the big town his family visited to buy clothes and go to the Princess Theater, where his dad ran a sheet metal shop, and where he and his friends hung out near the ferry docks. He and his wife, Marlene, moved back to Edmonds as they anticipated their retirement.

Most recently, he has been a professor at the University of Washington, Bothell, where he teaches and runs a Technical Advisory Board for the University. Before that, he spent his career at companies like Bell Laboratories, Microsoft, GE Global Research, and Amazon. He brings a passion for using emerging technologies to help make people’s lives better.

He has been on Boards such as INFINITEC (an assistive technology nonprofit for people with disabilities) and the Foundation for Professional Ergonomists and served in various nonprofit executive roles. Arnie was appointed as a Board member in March 2022, and is also volunteering on an Art Walk Edmonds Mural subcommittee. He spends much of his free time on photography, genealogy, and running the streets of Edmonds, and he is working on his series of multi-disciplinary history of ideas books.

Andrew grew up in Edmonds and has lived in the area for many years. As a licensed real estate agent, he is connected to the community and understands local needs. He has a background in community relations, strategic planning, fundraising and nonprofit involvement.

Andrew has a strong desire to give back to the Edmonds community by building partnerships, creating engaging programs and increasing community involvement.

Anne Stein is a PMP-certified Project and Program Manager with more than a decade of experience leading initiatives at Microsoft and Amazon. A long-time Edmonds resident, Anne has dedicated many years to volunteer work in the community—contributing to the Edmonds Historical Museum and Society through both community-facing and organizational roles.

She is actively involved on the Development and Organizational Committees, applying her professional expertise in strategy, operations, and project management to strengthen the museum’s structure, processes, and outreach. Anne frequently volunteers at the Edmonds Museum Summer Market and plays a key role in advancing the museum’s mission to preserve and celebrate Edmonds’ rich history while supporting a vibrant, connected community.

Anne shares that she has great memories of growing up taking ferry boat rides, walking along the waterfront, and enjoying her mother’s (Audrey Steinberg) Edmonds Community involvement with the Edmond’s Senior Singers (for over ten years).

Her family’s memorial bench is across from the playground in Marina Beach Park, and she welcomed you to have a look. She’s become a great asset to our Edmonds, and we look forward to her added contributions to the Museum and Society.

Barbara, a former Edmonds Mayor (1996-2000), served as President of the Society 2021 to 2025. She joined the Board in 2015 serving as the first Governance Committee Chairman. She has also served as Secretary, and Chair of the Annual Fundraising campaign.

Barb was born in Seattle. She settled in Edmonds in 1967 with her husband Pat and raised six children here. She holds a degree in political science from UW. Over the years she has served on numerous non-profit boards, frequently as Board chair, including Pathways for Women and the YWCA. In 1987/88 she assisted her husband as he established Pacific Northwest Bank. She loves genealogy and history and has been a member of the Historical Society since the mid 80’s.

Barb is dedicated to preserving the documents and artifacts of the past to be better informed and prepared to create the future. She believes we must preserve the history and treasures of Edmonds and Southwest Snohomish County for the enrichment, enjoyment, and education of future generation.

Danna was raised in Edmonds and returned here in 2015 as a retiree. Danna has a BA from the UW in English Literature and both an accounting degree and an MBA from City University. She worked as the Corporate Controller for Arnies Restaurants NW, Inc. for ten years. She volunteered for fifteen years for the Bellevue Schools Foundation (scriptwriter/director for their annual fund-raising luncheon) and for Evergreen Hospice (life story writer). She sat on the boards of the Eastside Journal newspaper, Bellevue Downtown Arts Commission, and the Bellevue Schools Foundation. She was the Treasurer for Grace Lutheran Church in Bellevue, created and managed their community p-patch garden, and created their quarterly newsletter.

Greg spent his young life in Edmonds and later Alderwood Manor. He became a firefighter and lived in Richmond Beach for 14 years before returning to Edmonds 35 years ago. He has served in the Puget Sound Christian Church for over 45 years. Greg was involved with the Edmonds Fire Safety Foundation for eight years until it dissolved in 2012, with the merger of the Edmonds Fire District and Fire District 1. The assets of the Foundation including two historic fire trucks were donated to the museum with restrictions and the hope that a fire museum could be created.

Greg became a Board member at that time. He retired from the fire service in 2003. During his time in active service he procured and displayed every artifact he could find concerning his home station in the Magnolia area of Seattle. The 1934 art deco style building has become a historic building know as Station 41 and Greg is now dedicated to preserving the artifacts associated with Edmonds fire and emergency response services as well as memorabilia from Edmonds past. He currently serves as Collections Committee chair.

Jesse brings a background in data analytics and video production to the Board. He is enthusiastic about making Edmonds history available through video, enhancing our online presence, attracting new audiences, and increasing community involvement. Jesse is committed to collaborating with board members, staff, and volunteers to meet the Society’s goals.

John Jessen, AIA, NCARB, is an Edmonds-based architect with more than 40 years of experience. John is internationally recognized for pioneering proton therapy facility design—and equally accomplished in museums, nonprofits, and historic preservation. His portfolio includes work for the Smithsonian Institution, National Gallery of Art, and other cultural organizations.

John has served on nonprofit boards (including CulturalDC), on the Montgomery County, MD Historic Preservation Commission, and co-led the Greenwich Forest Historic District designation. He brings a steady hand in planning, stakeholder engagement, and capital campaign support—pairing design excellence with community storytelling. John looks forward to advancing the Museum’s mission, strengthening partnerships, and helping steward Edmonds’ history for future generations.

Originally born in Florida, Katie received degrees in classical archaeology and anthropology from Florida State University. She has worked at multiple museums across the country, including the Museum of Florida History and the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum where she developed educational programs for schools, children, and families.

Katie moved to Washington with her family in 2024 and joined the Edmonds Historical Society shortly after. She is passionate about developing programs and activities to make the history of Edmonds engaging and relevant for the modern day community.

Larry brings work experience in planning speaker events, panels, and workshops as the Global Affairs Center Director at Shoreline Community College. His volunteer work includes working with SCM Medical Missions, Edmonds Food Bank, Parent Staff Organization at Edmonds Woodway High School, and with the Edmonds Historical Museum in producing Oral Histories. Larry looks forward to contributing to the preservation and sharing of Edmonds’ rich history.

Michelle Kelly is a strategist, facilitator, and relationship builder with deep expertise in the commercial real estate industry. She brings a value-focused, goal-oriented mindset to her work with the Edmonds Historical Society, supporting its strategic plan through thoughtful collaboration and long-term vision.

Michelle’s professional background spans architecture, construction, and business development, with a strong emphasis on branding, communications, and organizational growth. Her strengths lie in connecting people, ideas, and institutions—skills she applies to foster meaningful partnerships and expand community impact.

A Washington resident for over a decade, Michelle moved to Edmonds with her husband, son, and dog during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. She has held leadership roles in several nonprofit organizations across Washington and Arizona, contributing her expertise in strategic planning, relationship development, and capacity building.

Michelle is passionate about preserving local history and strengthening the cultural fabric of Edmonds through inclusive engagement and thoughtful stewardship.

While pursuing a business degree in college, Sandra traveled our planet with an enthusiasm for history, outdoor activities and conservation – two distinct but related career paths emerged. She spent 22 years as the Director for a regional non-profit trade association, Western Winter Sports, followed by ten years working for the Nature Conservancy.

Sandra’s volunteer activities at the museum began in 2014. She introduced an online program for museum ambassadors to schedule themselves and later, used the same program for volunteers working at the Museum’s Summer Markets. Pre-planning and onsite involvement of volunteer and membership activities and creating an Edmonds community-wide volunteer open house were added. Sandra’s interest in the Edmonds-South Snohomish Historical Society and Museum is prompted by a wish to make a positive contribution to the Society and foster engagement in local volunteerism for the benefit of museum activities.

Allyson began working at the Edmonds Historical Museum in May 2024 as she was completing her Master’s in Museology at the University of Washington. She prioritized studying Collections Management while exploring Exhibit Curation and Community Engagement which has led to her understanding the best ways for a museum collection to benefit and reach the public. Prior to earning her master’s, she earned her bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina at Ashville. She excelled in History, Mass Communications, and Event Planning as an undergrad. While she has only lived in the greater Seattle area since 2021, she stated, “I immediately felt like home and I am eager to keep exploring my newly adopted home.”

Polly Yorioka is a third-generation Washingtonian with a MA in International Studies and an MA in Museology from the University of Washington. Before coming to the Edmonds Historical Museum, Polly worked at the Gates Foundation Discovery Center and had internships at the Wing Luke Museum and the Nordic Museum. Most recently, Polly received curatorial fellowships with the Museum of History and Industry (2024) to research Japanese dolls and with Humanities Washington to develop the Immigrant History of Edmonds exhibit (2025). With a background in nonprofits and community building, Polly is excited to support the mission of the Edmonds Historical Museum. In her free time, you can find Polly painting, urban hiking, or cooking dinners with UW international students.
