Really Old Food: A Love Story

A free public talk with Harriet Baskas

September 19th 2:30 pm
Edmonds Historical Museum

Past

RSVP Available Here

Explore food that is so old, unusual, or meaningful that no one dares throw it away.

As part of the Farm to Table exhibit, the Edmonds Historical Museum invites Harriet Baskas and guests to explore peoples’ fascination with food.

From the 150-year-old pickle that resides in a Washington museum, to the foods found buried with mummies, and even the petrified banana that sparked a Banana Museum, discover why certain kinds of very old food still grip our imagination.

Why are some foods intentionally tucked away or preserved due to unusual, unintentional, or special circumstances? In this talk, hear and share stories of how these and other vintage vittles hold memories, tell stories, and connect us with family, culture, and history.

This event is made possible through the generous support of Humanities Washington’s Speakers Bureau program.
